Ask Scarlett

Hi!  I’m Scarlett.

I’m an English Bull Dog and I live with my Mom in Virginia Beach, VA.  This is my blog.  I think I’d prefer if it were a stick, or a rabbit, or something else fun that I could chase, but Mom said no to that.  Instead, I get to blog.

My new friend who is moving on up

Roxy will be 7 this November and came to us from Missouri. She is very spoiled and loves to pout when things do not go her way.  She spends her days laying on the couch or soaking up the sun in the backyard.  Roxy loves to travel and would even enjoy a trip around the neighborhood if it means she can ride in the front seat.  She is so spoiled that she has a special dinner made for her every night – I think she has caught on that if she acts sick she gets a hot meal!  She lives with my fiance and I and we are all VERY excited to move...

The Presidents Dogs

It’s almost President’s Day and I thought it might be interesting to talk about some of the dogs who had Presidents. George Washington, the father of our country, had four hounds named Drunkard, Taster, Tipler, and Tipsy.  Kinda casts old George in a different light, doesn’t it? John Adams, who was rather well-known for being difficult, had a dog named Satan. Abraham Lincoln, a forward thinker and the Great Emancipator, named his dog Fido – boring! Ulysses Grant called his dog Faithful, but he might have been better...

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Bring on 2012

My mom was talking about something she read on the internet last night.  It said that roughly 10% of renters are making a resolution to buy a home in the New Year.  If you’re in that group, then my mom is the one to call.  She can help you make your resolution a reality. Mom and I made our own list of resolutions for the New Year. Resolution #1: Mom – Help as many people as possible realize the dream of owning a home. Me – Use helping Mom at property inspections as an opportunity to trim the middle – I’ve gotten a little bit...

Play Date!

Scarlett here.  Went with Mom to look at a house for her business.  She helps other dogs find new homes for their people.  I was a really good girl and waited patiently while she looked at things and talked to people and when we were done, we went to the park!    I love, love, love the park!  We went to Chesapeake City Park and Mom let me run in the little dog part.  I’m quite sure that I would be fine over there in the big dog part – those overgrown pups would know better than to mess with me! – but you know how Mom’s are. ...

Halloween Time

So, since its Halloween time, I thought I tell you about my favorite pumpkin cookies.  Mom and Grandma make these for me and I love them!  In addition to just being delicious, they’re great for any dog on a vegetarian diet or for overweight dogs who are trying to lose weight – as long as you don’t eat too many! Mom makes these in different sizes because she likes to use all the pumpkin cookie cutters she has.  But just between you and me, if she only used the BIG one, that would be fine with me! Ingredients for Pumpkin Dog Cookies 1...
